JBF has been successful in helping the forest department in the screening of Canine Distemper in the fringe area of Kaziranga.

Just Be Friendly (JBF) – the NGO in Assam working for protection of animals, particularly stray dogs have embarked upon an ambitious vaccination programme for the stray dogs roaming around the Kaziranga National Park. Blood sample drive also conducted of these stray dogs roaming in the vicinity of the Kaziranga National Park. A team of veterinarians from the national park, members of the NGO, and representatives from the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) of Barapani in Meghalaya have been catching these stray dogs by nets and collected blood samples. The team is being led by veterinarians from Kaziranga, Dr DebabrataPhukan and Dr BiswajitBarua.
The blood sample will be sent to Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) of Barapani in Meghalaya for the tests to be required. After the blood sample process will be over the process will begin on these stray dogs roaming around the vicinity of the Kaziranga National Park to protect them from various diseases. Dr Phukan said that maximum stress have been given to rabies and canine distemper.
